- The new Construction Industry Scheme was introduced with effect from April 2007. The new scheme aims to reduce the regulatory burdens, to improve the level of tax compliance, and to ensure that workers have the correct employment status. Cards, certificates, vouchers and annual return will no longer apply, but in future it will be the Contractor’s responsibility to determine the employment status of its workers - under penalty if wrong!
