  • The new Construction Industry Scheme was introduced with effect from April 2007. The new scheme aims to reduce the regulatory burdens, to improve the level of tax compliance, and to ensure that workers have the correct employment status. Cards, certificates, vouchers and annual return will  no longer apply, but in future it will be the Contractor’s responsibility to determine the employment status of its workers - under penalty if wrong!

  • From April 2007 the van benefit charge has increased to £3000 unless the van is not used for private journeys. Advice and guidance should be sought to ensure proper tax planning is considered.
